With better weather just around the corner, you can guarantee people will be dusting off their tennis rackets or maybe even looking to join for the first time.
Mark Borthwick, president of the Euroa Tennis Club, said people were really excited about the coming season.
"After last year’s strong showing in the Shepparton competition, there’s plenty of enthusiasm to keep growing the club,” he said.
“Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, we have programs designed to suit all ages and skill levels.
"Our coaching team is committed to helping everyone build confidence and enjoy their time on court.”
Last season was a breakthrough for the Euroa Tennis Club in the Shepparton competition.
With all five teams reaching the grand finals and securing one championship victory, the club is eager to build on that success and continue its upward momentum.
The juniors will kick off their season in Term four, starting on 10th October.
The first two weeks will focus on grading to ensure players are matched with the right level of competition.
Once again, the club is fortunate to have Kelly Hill as Junior Coordinator, whose dedication continues to inspire young players.
Thursday night tennis has become increasingly popular, and with the eagerly awaited opening of the grass courts this September, the senior social competition will launch at the start of Term four.
Anyone interested in joining can reach out to Lyn Pearce or Ros Doxey for more information.
Mark Borthwick remains the cornerstone of the club’s coaching program, catering to players aged 8 to 80.
This year, the club hopes to expand offerings to include cardio tennis and group sessions for children.
Lessons are tailored to individual skill levels and fitness, ensuring every player gains confidence and improves on the court.
Player numbers saw a healthy rise last season across the board.
The Monday women’s competition, Thursday night social tennis, and Saturday matches all recorded increased participation.
The standout growth came from Friday night junior tennis, with nearly 100 kids taking part.
The club’s synthetic courts, lighting, and fencing are showing signs of wear, and quotes are currently being sought for much needed upgrades.
Over the next five years, a comprehensive plan will be developed to improve facilities, enhancing the experience for all members.
A major advantage of joining the Shepparton competition is the opportunity for Euroa to field junior teams something not possible for many years.
Moreover, promising young players now have pathways to represent the Goulburn Valley region at regional tournaments.
Several juniors are already competing in local tournaments, and the club will continue to encourage their growth and development.
Behind every success story is a strong volunteer network.
The club’s 40-strong team of volunteers run the renowned Labour Day tournament, while numerous mums and dads support junior activities.
The 20 member committee works tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the club running smoothly week after week.
Last year’s trivia night under the stars was a huge hit, drawing over 200 attendees.
Plans are underway to host another similar event this year and details will be announced soon.
