FOR once the shooters competing at the Euroa Clay Target Club on Sunday August 11 had no excuses as perfect weather conditions greeted them with no wind and bright sunlight that made the targets show out like beacons.

The main Championship Event was the Keith McKendrick Memorial Point Score Championship which was sponsored generously by his son Paul.

Keith was a stalwart of the Euroa Club for many years and particularly as the club coach.

He taught firearm safety and coached the Euroa Secondary College for a long time.

He also was a fine shot at clay targets but his main interest in an earlier life was the big bore rifle shooting with him representing Australia on several occasions. Mansfield’s Lloyd Parks was the Champion in this event after a very short shoot off with Euroa’s Tony Rohrlach scoring 87/87 with Tony just one point behind.

Also on the program was the Boho Single Barrel Championship which featured 4 shooters that qualified for the final.

Tony Rohrlach, Scott Towers, Leonard Quirk and Fred Heinze.

In Just two targets thrown Fred emerged the Winner after the other missed their targets.

The final event was a continental graded event with the targets thrown at different heights as well as the normal angles plus they are thrown much faster.

Finally, Tony Rohrlach broke through shooting the perfect 25/25 leaving the rest behind.
