Mansfield Clay Target Club competition results for Sunday, October 16, 2022.

THE Mansfield Clay Target Club monthly shoot was held on Sunday in perfect spring conditions, fine and sunny with a slight breeze.

Other clubs were represented with attendance from Alexandra, Yarrawonga, Boarder CTC, Corowa, Benalla, Euroa and Woods Point making up seven squads of 34 shooters.

The competition was generously sponsored by Maxine and John Winters of Phudley's Jewellery and Gifts. Three events were on the fixture; the first being a 10 target Point Score eye opener, leading into 50 target Double Barrel and 50 target Ball Trap.

The eye opener was a cash divide, winner takes all unless drawn, in which case winnings were split with no shoot–offs.

Three AA grade shooters came home clean with 30 points; Mingo Diaz (Mansfield), Angus Ferguson (Corowa) and Daniel Chinn (Woods Point).

A grade, also 30/30 Kirsten Chinn (Woods Point) and Bob Leita (Boarder CTC).

B Grade by himself Geoff Foster (Mansfield) and one C grade winner from Mansfield Phillip McDonough.

It was straight in to the 50 target double barrel shooting 20 targets on layout one and 30 on trap 2. AA grade was all tied up on 50/50 between Mick Ward (Woods Point), Fred HEINZE (Alexandra) and Royce Wojtowycz (Corowa).

Fred fell away after a further 34 targets with Royce victorious 83/83 and Mick runner up 82/83. A grade winners were Ken Skinner (Mansfield) 49/52 and Bob Glossip 48/52. B grade David Luelf (Mansfield) 52/54 and Trevor Newman (Mansfield) 51/54. After a long absence from the club Shaun Kirley returned for his first shoot for many years taking C grade 46/50 over fellow Mansfield team member Stephen Wilson 44/50.

A short lunch break followed with all competitors partaking in a sit down chicken, ham and salad lunch prepared by Ken Skinner followed up with some sweet treats baked by Dorothy Foster.

Following lunch the sun was shining and everyone was ready for the final event of the day.

The very challenging 50 target Ball Trap brought out some great scores with Fred Heinze taking overall and A grade with 49.

AA grade winners were Phillip Matthews 46 and Daryl Hunt 45. A grade runner up was Bob Leita 46. B grade Angus Ferguson 41 and Bob Glossip 40.

C grade Jason Foster 44 and Shaun Kirley 42.

During presentations a special thanks went out to attending shooters who participated with scoring and generally helping out to ensure a successful day.

The annual AGM was held on the Tuesday evening before the shoot with a new President and Treasurer elected namely John Desmond and Jason Foster, with the remainder of the committee unchanged.

Ken Skinner was acknowledged for his long service in the treasurer role, he is now looking forward to competition without the distractions of the admin work.

Mansfield Clay Target Gun hosts the North East Zone shoot the third Sunday of each month; the next program will be conducted Sunday 20th November at 10:30am with the Presidents Cup on offer; 100 targets over four events.

The club is family focused with lunch provided and all junior shooters competition fees are sponsored by the club.

Each Thursday throughout daylight savings the club will be open for practice from 4.00pm all come and try shooters welcome.
