A GRADE
Euroa A Grade continued on their merry, winning way with a strong 58 to 46 victory over a typically physical Mooroopna outfit.
In a game that felt more like a wrestling match at times, Euroa stuck with their starting seven for the full four quarters.
No subs needed, no problem; when you've got a team this fit, fierce and fired up, who needs fresh legs?
Sami Kreltszheim, with a heart bigger than Phar Lap’s and legs that seemingly don’t tire, never stopped running.
For such a short goaler, she showed Mooroopna exactly how it’s done adding 16 classy goals and earning best on court honours.
Standing tall in defence (figuratively, anyway), Kellie Davidson proved once again that height is just a number.
As one of the shortest GDs in the league, she teamed up brilliantly with Ellie Warnock and Eliza Hoare, who doesn’t know how to stop and thankfully, doesn’t appear to need to.
In the middle, Hollie Reid’s super fit engine kept the ball moving, while Olivia Morris put on a shooting clinic with 42 goals, barely breaking a sweat.
Also holding strong was Sophie Owen, whose steady presence and work rate flew under the radar but who played a key role in keeping the team balanced and composed throughout the contest.
With two rounds to go, Euroa sits second on the ladder and looks every bit a finals contender.
Even better, Mia Sudomirski returns to the lineup next round, adding fresh firepower just in time.
B GRADE
The Euroa B Grade Magpies soared to the top of the ladder after a thrilling win at Memorial Oval on Saturday against Mooroopna.
It was a high intensity clash that kept supporters on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.
The game was neck and neck, with both teams displaying strong defensive pressure and accurate shooting.
Captain Kelly Hill led by example, playing a pivotal role in several crucial intercepts and turnovers, picking off loose balls and redirecting play down the court.
She was strongly supported by Katy Frewen at goal keeper.
Mid court players Bree Sudomirski, Millie Watson, Bree Poole, and Ruby Watson controlled the pace of the game, linking defence to attack with speed, precision, and sharp decision-making.
The attackers fed the circle with accuracy, consistently finding space, and delivering clean passes to the shooters.
Goal Attack Sarah Ternes and Goal Shooter Molly Redfern worked seamlessly together, constantly rotating, communicating, and creating space under pressure.
Their accuracy under the post was a standout feature, with few missed attempts across all four quarters.
Despite the constant push from the Cats, it was Euroa’s composure under pressure in the final quarter that proved decisive.
The Magpies met every challenge calmly, maintaining possession and rewarding effort consistently.
While a late charge from the Cats brought the final result back to a slim three-goal margin, Euroa looked in control for most of the game.
Next week, the Magpies have the bye and a chance for a well deserved sleep-in and recharge before the final two weeks of the home and away season.
SCOREBOARD: Euroa 52 defeated Mooroopna 49
BEST PLAYERS: Sarah Ternes, Bree Sudomirski, Kelly Hill
B RESERVE
After a slight hiccup in form (three losses, but who's counting?), Euroa’s B Reserve side came out firing like a team who’d misplaced their winning streak and just found it under the couch.
They powered past Mooroopna 57 to 40 in a much needed, confidence-boosting win.
Annika Sutherland returned to her scorching best, racking up 26 goals and causing such a commotion in the ring that the defenders didn’t know which way to turn.
She was eventually benched not because she slowed down, but because she was simply too hot to handle.
Bree Poole was cool, calm, and clinical with 17 goals and three best-on-court votes, while Sienna Trotter danced through the midcourt, shutting down Mooroopna’s WA, earning two votes and four goals of her own.
Stalwarts Megan O’Bree and Abbie Ellis once again did what they do best, quietly and reliably running the engine room.
Between them, they covered every midcourt position like a well-oiled tag team, bringing their trademark smarts and consistency.
Week in, week out, they show up and do the hard yards. and Saturday was no exception.
Euroa led at every change, stretching their margin each quarter and leaving Mooroopna playing catch up all day.
The win keeps Euroa snug in third on the ladder, and with finals looming and with performances like this, the B Reserves are heating up at just the right time.
17 AND UNDER
Facing off against Mooroopna and comfortably perched in third place on the ladder, it was always going to be a formidable task, especially with a few players sidelined due to injury.
Ella Hill and Alice Ludlow showcased excellent synergy and confidence in the shooting circle, displaying remarkable resilience and a deepening partnership that has blossomed throughout the season.
In the midfield, Belle Ford made a noteworthy transition from the 15 and Unders, demonstrating exceptional stamina and commitment across the match.
Marnie Salter and Evie O’Dwyer were relentless in their efforts, pushing the ball forward while applying strong defensive pressure.
In defence, Jade Raleigh and Macey Watson held their ground, battling against the relentless assault from a skilled Mooroopna attack.
Their effective communication and teamwork resulted in several crucial turnovers.
Although the Magpies were defeated, they played with passion and determination.
The team’s commitment and sportsmanship were evident from the opening whistle to the final moments, marking a clear improvement from their previous encounter.
SCOREBOARD: Mooroopna 69 defeated Euroa 25
15 AND UNDER
Euroa hit the court determined to turn the tables on the teams’ last encounter, when the Magpies went down by three goals.
But the Cats proved too strong in the first quarter, taking a four-goal lead into the first break.
GA Avie Hill was instrumental in driving momentum in the second term.
With slick ball movement and sharp shooting, Hill helped Euroa surge ahead in a stellar second quarter, leaving Mooroopna scrambling to keep up.
The defensive wall, led by GD Belle Ford and GK Grace McKellar, was rock solid.
By applying pressure and forcing turnovers, Euroa clawed back the margin and took a two-goal advantage into half time.
The third quarter saw a crucial tactical shift from Mooroopna, as star Cat Layla Radcliffe was dropped back into the goal shooter position.
This change paid dividends immediately, with Radcliffe proving to be a handful for Euroa’s defenders.
Her strong holds, height advantage, and accurate shooting became the turning point in the match, swinging momentum in Mooroopna’s favour.
Despite Euroa's gritty resistance, Mooroopna’s consistent execution and smart delivery into the circle allowed them to build a comfortable buffer heading into the final term. Euroa fought valiantly, but the defensive intensity and conversion rate from Mooroopna proved too strong.
In the end, Mooroopna sealed the win with a nine goal margin, taking the game 51 to 42.
Euroa showed flashes of brilliance and will look to build on the promising form from the first half, while Mooroopna’s composure and tactical adjustment earned them a well deserved victory.
