LINDSAY Park stable star Mr Brightside, has secured yet another group 1 victory for trainers Ben and JD Hayes winning the time honored 2023 Doncaster Mile.

Travelling to Royal Randwick in Sydney, with hopes of defending his title in the race he won in 2022.

In doing so becoming only the 10th horse in history to win the race in consecutive years, Mr Brightside opened as the betting favourite for Saturday's rendition of the race.

However, with the rain affected track reaching a heavy 8, and visibility deteriorating the Hayes boys knew their galloper would need to muster all his star power and quality to be the first horse to cross the line.

With world class jockey Zac Purton on boar, Mr Brightside enjoyed a "10/10 ride" which saw him come to the clear running at the 300–metre mark of the race and hit the front.

Although it wasn't all smooth sailing from there, with rival My Oberon storming up the inside and threatening to take the lead, the determination and will to win from Mr Brightside was on full display as he fended off the Annabel Neesham trained runner.

As he bobbed his head on the line, claiming his second Doncaster Mile, Mr Brightside's total career earnings sky rocketed to over $8m dollars ensuring he will go down in history as a star of Australian racing.

Post–race Ben Hayes went on to say "we'll never forget him, but the exciting thing is he's got so much to go".

The Hayes team is enjoying a real a purple patch of form, also claiming Saturday's Bendigo Mile with Here To Shock just minutes after Mr Brightside triumphed in Sydney.

JD Hayes has described the stables recent success as a "real team effort" and extends his gratitude to all those involved with the Euroa based operation.
