STRATHBOGIE GOLF CLUB

By KRISTEN MOORE

This week we started with a number of trees down on the course.

Thankfully, with the help of an excavator, many were cleared.

The lumberjacks now have several days ahead cutting wood.

We would also like to thank the volunteers who continue to maintain the course, they do a wonderful job giving up their time.

On Saturday, we played Stableford on a lovely winter’s day.

Men’s winner of the Euroa Hotel voucher was Shae Van Der Schoor with 36 points.

Ladies winner was Eleanor Barns, with a great score of 35 points.

It is wonderful to see her back on the golf course.

EUROA GOLF CLUB

Spring like conditions enticed 25 men to play in the annual Pink Ribbon Anti-Cancer Council Day, played from the red T markers.

The few extra metres gained by playing from the shorter red markers did not seem to make up for the reduced handicaps, with only three of the 25 men managing to play to their handicap.

Patrick Murphy won the day with 37 points and took out Division one.

Jackson Walker had the round of the day with 36 points from a handicap of just one.

Kevin Mead took out Division two with 35 points.

Ash Pedder and Donald Bubeck were ball winners on 34 points.

Nearest to pins went to Brian Rosenbrock, Kevin Mead, Jackson Walker and Patrick Murphy.

Nineteen players competed in the Evans and Associated-sponsored Wednesday Stableford event.

Peter Bath had a good day out to win on 36 points, with Neal Healey runner up on 35.

Seeber, Paul and O’Connor shared the two ball money.

NAGAMBIE GOLF CLUB

By DAVID LOVE

A hint of spring was in the air, and a much-needed reprieve from stroke off the back marks was required for the Nagambie players.

Thirty three teed up for a Stableford event and the third round of the social club trophy.

Plenty of good scores were returned, with a favourable wind blowing and the course showing signs of some growth.

Thirty eight points was the winning score, carded by Jim Doyle, who could have easily had more if he had his usual luck throughout the round.

Runner up, coming out on top of a three way countback, was the 'Wild One' Rhys Shepherd, finishing with 37 points.

Shepherd headed Tim Baldwin and Xander Keogh, both also on 37 points.

The nearest the pin prizes went to Gary Bow with a wonderfully timed strike to the eighth, Greg Whiteman showed some fight and flare at the 13th, and David Sudholz produced a well weighted stinger into the 16th.

Next week's event will be Par and will move to Saturday, August 30, with hit off between 9 and 9.30am.

On office duty will be S. Bryant, with S. Donnison in the bar.
