Monday 21 July saw 81 members and guests contest a 4BBB event at Shepparton Golf Club, a social initiative of our “Young Vets” to recognise our great sponsors who kindly support us throughout the year.

The Shepparton Golf Club again proved excellent hosts with hot bread rolls and a choice of hot soups at the conclusion of play.

Presentations were ably conducted by Ron Wilkinson as a sub for president Bill Chilcott who is enjoying warmer climes.

Best score was posted by Philip Deane (Murchison) and Philip Jarvis (Seymour) with a combined total of 42 Stableford points.

A count back was required to separate several teams on 41 pts, and Denilquin pair of Neil Boswell and Wayne Pitts emerged victorious.

Nearest the pin, contested on the short 12th Hole in A, B, and C grade (0-16, 17-22, 23+ respectively) that saw Garry Reece (Mooroopna), Stephen Piggott (Cobram), and Gary Eden (Merrigum) claim the prizes.

Down the line balls were awarded to Stephen Pigott (Cobram) and Dennis Andrews (Benalla); Gerald Pennefather and Nick Traianidis (Shepparton team); Michael Gallivan (Valley View) and Kelly Cheong (Rushworth); Peter Oddy and Greg Collins (Deniliquin team); Laurie Radley (Rochester) and Lindsay Tatterson (Parklands); Ron Wilkinson and Bob Dixon (Shepparton team).

The GVVGA secretary has received entries for 2 teams (each of 3 players) to send to Portland in September for the VVGA Teams event.

We are able to nominate 3 teams, so there is still an opportunity to get a team together before our next event in August.

Our next event is at Valley View Golf Club on Monday 4 August, assembly at 9.30 for a 10am tee.
