NAGAMBIE GOLF

By DAVID LOVE

The fith and final round of the social club trophy Stableford was played with the Nagambie course in the best condition it can be for any time of year.

Mid-spring always sees the course presented in tip top condition, as were the players.

The winning score for the day was Mick O'Connell shooting a score that would win a four ball, 43 points, with his steady approach and good timing all coming together for a handicap-killing win.

Runner up was equally as impressive with Rod Wilson knocking out 42 points, Rhys Shepherd claimed third and the social club aggregate with 42 also.

Shepherd compiled 17 points to win the five-round aggregate competition for a second time, proving he is not just long but has some consistency as well.

The Nearest-the-Pin prizes went to Terry Lowis, doing the double with not one but two good shots at the eighth and 16th.

Tim Baldwin flew a well struck iron to go close at the13th.

Next week's event is a stroke event and the gold medal playoff for those that have qualified.

On office duty is D. Brown and in the bar J. Lodding.
