IN cool conditions, there were 14 riders who turned out for the 53km Kobyboyn/Highlands return course.

With 19 minutes in the field, it was expected that all participants would have had a chance for the win but the limit group put paid to that with a very strong effort.

As is becoming the norm, the evergreen, Jeff Hibberd, led his mob to the win with 1.30mins to spare from the 14min pair with the scratch pair being a further 2.30mins back.

It was nice to see Lachie Lee back, turning out with a solid showing.

First over the line was Jeff Hibberd (19mins), 2nd place Lachie Lee (19mins), 3rd Brett Bender (19mins), 4th Glenn Christensen (14mins) and 5th Ian Baker (14mins).

The fastest time was Michael Saunders (scratch) in 1hr.26.17mins (37.10kph).

Others in the top ten finishers included: James Hender, Victor Nash, N Said, Michael Saunders and Shane Kirby.

Thanks to Bluey, Ted, Heather and Woofa Madex for help in the running of the race.

Next Week, on July 3, it will be the 47km Northwood loop from Burgess Signs, with a 1.30pm start, and sign on at 1pm sharp please.

The handicapper is having a week off and Thommo will assume the duties.

Safe and happy cycling!
