THE Euroa A Grade cricketers travelled to Numurkah for Round 5 of the Sherbourne Terrace Haisman Shield.
With Darby Wilson being a late omission due to injury, the magpies welcomed Will Jackson back into the lineup after some time away from the club.
On a hot and dry Saturday afternoon, Numurkah officials produced a beautiful looking pitch at the Showgrounds that had plenty in it for bat and ball.
Euroa won the toss and elected to bat first.
Euroa pair Vaughan Kirk and Scott Hamilton opened the batting for the visitors.
With the score at 0/11, Euroa lost their first wicket, with Vaughan Kirk out for 6.
The loss of the first wicket brought Sham Dadallage to the crease.
Dadallage made a quick fire 11 before being dismissed.
Euroa battled hard throughout the innings with Nick Hill (20) and Will Jackson (16) contributing well in the middle order.
Euroa posted a competitive 8/127 off 45 overs.
Euroa opening bowlers Vaughan Kirk and Andrew Squires bowled well to open the innings with Squires making the breakthrough early.
A steady flow of Numurkah wickets wasn't enough as Numurkah battled hard for a four wicket win.
Both Euroa and Numurkah battled hard with bat and ball in trying conditions.
Dadallage was the pick of the bowlers with 3/18 off his allocated overs.
Euroa remain winless this season but will continue to develop and invest in the youth at the club in what appears to be an exciting time for the Magpies moving forward.
Next week, Euroa A Grade host Karramomus at Euroa Friendlies Oval in what is sure to be a great game.

C GRADE

ON Saturday, Euroa C Grade hosted Invergordon at Memorial oval in ideal conditions for cricket.
Captain Lucas Paul won the toss and elected to bowl first on a wicket with plenty of grass cover making bowling conditions ideal.
Will Creevey and Russell Downie opened the bowling for Euroa and had the Invergordon top three on the ropes.
By the end of the eighth over Euroa had them 3–38 with Creevey claiming two of these wickets.
After a small fight back with the bat by Invergordon, Nick Thomson entered the attack and after two maiden overs he struck gold claiming two wickets in his third over to have the visitors 5–63.
After a 50 run partnership, Nathan Butler got in the wickets column, taking action by hitting the pads of the Invergordon batter.
Creevey came back in and added another wicket to his tally which started a lower order collapse for Invergordon.
Lucas Paul snaring two wickets and an incredible run out by Butler resulted in the visitors all out for 132.
Mitch Gleeson and David McCullough started the run chase for Euroa with an opening stand of 39.
Following Gleeson's dismissal, Creevey came in at number three and produced a fine innings of 45 runs.
Together with Creevey, Nathan Buttler battled hard however his dismissal triggered a middle order collapse for Euroa losing 5–22.
Downie and Zac Williams showed there was still a glimmer of hope for the Magpies by putting on a 12 run partnership before Russell was bowled to leave Euroa just six runs short of a second win for the season.
Next week Euroa travels to Kialla to take on Old Students in the final match before the Christmas/New Years break.
