THE Under 18 Euroa Magpies Boys basketball team travelled to Echuca for their annual junior tournament over the long weekend.

Entering division one in preparation for their upcoming championships in Ballarat, the boys took on hosts Echuca in their first game and once they found their feet, competed well going down by only eight points.

Later that evening, the boys faced off against Wangaratta and in a great team performance, took the win in a close game by two points.

Over the final three games of the weekend the boys were challenged by Eltham, Wodonga and finally battled it out against local rival Mansfield to finish the weekend.

Mansfield took control early and Euroa did well to fight back closing the gap before Mansfield re–established control ending up victors by 11 points.

The team's first division one tournament was a positive precursor to their championship tournament this coming weekend where the team will compete against 24 basketball associations from across country Victoria.

The Euroa Basketball Association domestic competition will draw to a close over the coming two weeks with semi–finals being played this week before the finals being held the following week.
