The fashion show and competition is a beloved, part of the annual Mitchelton Australian National Show & Shine, and a lot of fun.
This part of the event started in 2001, and Suzanne Wright and Susie Edwards have been organising, running, and judging the myriad outstanding costumes that appear on stage at the Show & Shine for the last three years.
This year’s theme is Hollywood Heroes and features cars – or replicas – from some of the movie industry’s favourite movies.
However fashion devotees don’t need to match the cars – or even a movie car – to have fun on the red carpet and be in the running for great prizes.
But if you are thinking movie cars, then think Blues Brothers, Mad Max, Bullitt, Rush, Smokey and the Bandit, the Italian Job (skivvies are back in fashion), or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Unleash your creativity!
Susie Edwards finds the sheer level of enthusiasm each year ‘quite amazing’.
“The exuberance exhibited by our entrants is something else,” she said.
“And we are always thrilled to receive local sponsorship to enable us to present our placegetters with wonderful prizes.
“This year we thank The Wine List, Burke’s Bakery, and Foodworks, so make the day a complete package and come in costume!”
