Euroa's own University for the Third Age (U3A) has something for everyone in their post-retirement years and wants all those associated with - and not - to attend its annual general meeting on Tuesday, 19 August at 2pm in the RSL room in Kirkland Avenue.

Afternoon tea will be provided.

As you know, some people still get confused about the U3A being part of the Euroa Third Age community group, but that is not so.

Both groups are completely separate from each other and host vastly different activities for the Euroa community.

Members of Euroa U3A are usually retired people who identify with the saying: ‘you may be retired but your brain isn't’.

We rely on our members to propose, develop, and run courses and activities, but convenors do not need to be an expert in their area of interest but just be enthusiastic about learning more and sharing knowledge and friendship with like-minded people.

Often activities involve inviting speakers in or visiting places of interest.

At present the U3A is seeking to replace its secretary and valued foundation member of the university from 12 years ago.

We are hopeful to find someone who is keen to join our dedicated committee to promote learning in a social, friendly environment.

The committee meets 4-5 times each year to discuss possible new courses, ideas that members have offered, and ways to improve.

Please consider becoming involved in our vibrant group, as it is vital that we find someone to ensure the future viability of the U3A in Euroa.

Membership is $25 per year and members may attend as many different courses or activities as they want.

The thriving membership of over 65 locals will always welcome more people, so come along next Tuesday at 2pm and join us for a cuppa and see what we do.

We are indebted to the Euroa RSL and the Euroa Library for their ongoing support of our activities.
