The Violet Town Fire Brigade Open Day is on Saturday 9 August at 10am-3pm and is looking to attract new volunteers - both potential firefighters and support people.

They invite all residents who have never been in a fire station to come and have a look, either before or after a trip to the VT Market.

There will be a sausage sizzle and activities for children.

The music lives on in VT with The Little Music Room opening at 28a Cowslip Street, offering lessons in piano, flute, saxophone, clarinet, and trombone (singing and guitar soon too).

Contact Elisha Salakowski on 0438 100 280 with any questions.

On the business front, real estate agent Geoff Langsford has left town and our Xcel removalists have closed. We wish them all well in their new ventures.

The Purple Phone Book has been delivered to all residences in 3669 postcode. It took six months to make and may be the last one produced - there are now people living in Violet Town who have never used a hard copy phone book!

Thanks to everyone who helped put it together.

A team from the shire met with VTAG and Streetscape people last week to discuss the median strip trees in Cowslip St.

One tree was missed in the recent clean up by contractors and will be removed.

The group discussed the health of the trees, limited longevity, and potential solutions.

The trees still standing will remain, but plans will be developed to eventually replace the whole strip with trees more suitable for the space.
