The Euroa Rotary Club is actively involved with Rotary International’s Youth Exchange program.
The program aims at students 15–18 years old who spend a year abroad, attending Secondary Schools and living with three to four host families.
The intention is to promote the participants’ self-awareness and learn about cultures and diversity.
The Club is currently sponsoring a Mexican exchange student Luis Enrique (“Quique”) Esquinca, who will be here for a year.
Quique is staying with his first host family, Michael and Kylie, and is enrolled at the Euroa Secondary College.
He is pictured with Rotary Club President Michael Stubbe and the Club’s Exchange Student Counsellor, Richard McGeehan.
In January, under the reciprocal Student Exchange arrangements, Euroa Rotary sponsored local student Oakley Paul, who left for a year in Japan.
Oakley is under the auspices of the Rotary Club of Toyama and attends school there.
She is now staying with her third host family and has advised that the cultural and lifetime experiences are amazing.
