Behind the fence: our stable of snappers

The football and netball season is all but over with only one finals round to go.

Readers of The Euroa Gazette have enjoyed a great spread of action shots from shire clubs in both the GVL and KDL.

The newspaper's Dale Mann heads up the sporting mission each week, but he is not alone.

We congratulate also a dedicated troupe of snappers who have contributed this year.

Euroa's Matt Mills, Longwood's Cassie Murray, and Monica Crnko at Avenel have added to the colour of the sports pages which are headed up by Dan Godsmark.

"These guys have been great in backing up Dale Mann," Dan said.

"It's good to get a bit of flair and different styles of pictures."

Monika Crnko was drawn to the Avenel FNC due to her brother lining up (and kicking goals) at Swans games.

"It's challenging but I like coming to every game and really enjoy watching," she said.

Cassie Murray has been taking sports photos since the beginning of this season.

The Newcastrian grew up with rugby league, but through her partner Rob has been schooled in Australian Rules.

"My step daughters play netball and we have a nephew playing footy," Cassie said.

"I love action shots and I get so excited when I get a good one."

Cassie is a professional photographer who has been running her business 'on and off' for 17 years and says her craft is an escape from reality.

Has she enjoyed turning her lens to country footy?

With Rob returning from a two-year knee injury to line up for Longwood in 2026, it's a no brainer.

"Oh for sure - I will definitely be back next year."
