LORNA Jean Palmer was born in Violet Town on March 9, 1920.
Lorna was the 9th of 11 children born to William and Martha Saunders.
She grew up surrounded by laughter and fun with her seven sisters and three brothers.
Stories were often told of singing along, with older brother Bert accompanying them on the piano accordion, sewing their own dresses and going out to the local dances with her sisters.
