LONGWOOD'S decorated war hero Fred Tubb VC was the key participant in one of this nation’s most important historical events – the battle of Lone Pine at Gallipoli on 6-10 August, 1915.
Fred and three others, including Euroa’s Alex Burton, received the Victoria Cross for their gallantry at the battle.
Never before, nor since were so many awards given for bravery after one event.
