Take a step back to the vintage era

KAREN Mizzi from Divine Vintage Dresses has been restoring vintage dresses since she was asked to turn her passion into a profitable business when studying internet marketing.

Although Karen always had a love for the elegance and flattering styles of vintage fashion, it was this project that gave her the inspiration to make what was supposed to be simply another assignment into a career.

After teaching herself to restore vintage clothing, she ran a business in Sydney for a number of years doing restorations.

This interest went beyond repairing old dresses, as she became fascinated by the history of fashion, and how what people wore reflected the times.

“’Vintage’ can be anywhere from the 1920s to 1980s, and it’s really interesting to look back on the different styles of the decades,” she explained.

This Queen’s Birthday long weekend (June 9-12) Karen, who now lives and works in Longwood, is presenting some of her work at an exhibition at Maygars Hill Winery in Longwood East.
