STRATHBOGIE Shire Council has dismissed persistent rumours that it planned to close one or more of its four pools.

The shire runs and maintains pools in Euroa, Violet Town, Avenel and Nagambie.

Mayor Deb Swan confirmed there had been a review of the shire’s aquatic strategy but denied any pools were on the chopping block.

“Council has conducted a cost analysis of pools and we are now seeking community input into how best we can deliver aquatic services,” Cr Swan said.

Council will distribute surveys next month, aimed at gauging communities’ attitudes towards pools across the shire.

“Once again, we want to engage the community in a discussion about the value of the pools to them,” Cr Swan said.
