A NEW look Euroa first eleven (with all but three players 21 or under) took to the Memorial Oval in their first match of the year against Kyabram.
Greeted by a fresh round one pitch with plenty of grass cover and some variable bounce, Euroa won the toss and elected to bat.
The innings got off to a rocky start, with the up and down nature of the wicket catching out opener Linton Colclough dismissed for three runs early and then numbers three and four batsmen Tom Burke and Zac Clarke both dismissed without scoring.
The innings was then steadied by a really determined batting performance by opener Mitch Gleeson (14) who batted resolutely for nearly 30 overs.
And by some powerful hitting from Lucas Paul (20) and Adam Wright (13) which held the innings together throughout the middle overs, but were unfortunately unable to go on after getting starts.
Wickets fell with regularity until Dion Grant (17) came in down the order and played a steadying role to push the score past 100.
