Police give some timely advice

A TOTAL of 485 criminal offences were recorded in the Shire of Strathbogie in 2014/15, according to crime rate statistics released last week.

The highest recorded crime was property and deception, with 204 offences, followed by justice procedure (117) and crimes against a person (103).

There were also 28 drug offences and 30 public order and security offences.

Victoria Police’s Inspector Glenn Woolfe said the focus for police in the Shire of Strathbogie as well as Mitchell Shire is to continue to work towards making communities safer.

“Thefts of motor cars have increased 24.1 per cent and we are still seeing vehicles being left unlocked or parked in high risk areas,” he said.

“Please don’t make it easy for criminals…always lock your vehicles.
