AVENEL Football Netball Club was fortunate to have two of their netball teams playing in the grand final on Saturday at Mooroopna.

The B grade girls took on Tallygaroopna and the C grade players were up against Lancaster.

Avenel’s B grade side was victorious, securing themselves a premiership with the final scores at 29 to 20.

Coach Marlene Tempest said that it was an awesome day and win for the girls.

“We were premiers and champions as we were undefeated all season,” she said.

“It was a hard fought game.

“We had good opponents which made it difficult but we got across the line in the end.”

Avenel’s goal shooter Sarah Brown was awarded with best on court.

Unfortunately the C grade side went down in a close fought game to Lancaster 32 to 36.

Coach Anita Lynch said that it was a really good match from both teams.

“The opposition just made really good use of the turnovers,” she said.

“I think the girls had some nerves.

“But the whole team played really well.”
