COUNCIL will go ahead with a planning scheme amendment to extend a heritage overlay in three sections.
It follows a decision at this month’s planning meeting.
The study has been a long six year process to identify all of the significant sites throughout the shire.
Currently 30 sites across the Strathbogie Shire are heritage listed and the proposed amendment sought to add an additional 57 individual sites plus nine precincts to the overlay.
After council’s last planning committee meeting it was decided it would focus on proceeding with the confirmation of 55 of the individual sites to the overlay, as two of the sites made submissions to council with concerns.
Manager of sustainable development at the Strathbogie Shire Emma Kubeil said that after the document outlining the overlay, which was prepared outside of council, was put on exhibition, a number of objections were received.
