WILL Hayes is getting a consistent spot in Footscray’s senior Victorian Football League (VFL) side and said that playing for the Magpies couldn’t have prepared him better.

The 20-year-old son of local renowned racehorse trainer, David Hayes, said that Euroa is where he calls home and the Magpies are his home club.

Will started playing under 16s with the Euroa Football Netball Club (EFNC) and he currently returns to play for its senior side occasionally.

“Last year was my first year playing seniors at Euroa,” he said.

“It got me really ready to play in the VFL.

“There wasn’t a huge jump between the changes in the level of skill and physicality needed in the VFL so the playing in the Goulburn Valley Football League (GVFL) was a good stepping stone.”
