WITH a game of two halves against Shepparton Swans on Saturday, the Euroa Magpies burst from the blocks to really dominate possession, apply excellent teamwork and ultimately force scoreboard pressure through the team’s good play.
Captain Andrew Bell led right from the get-go with small forwards Abraham Ankers, Brad Cunningham and James Milne hitting the scoreboard.
Euroa’s back six were their ever reliable selves, restricting the Swans forwards to rushed ‘round the corner’ shots at goal while at the other end the pressure to keep the ball in the Euroa forward line was immense.
Great ball use through the likes of Nate and Jet Trotter – playing senior GVFL football together for the first time – meant that the recipients up the ground were being well looked after.
Euroa went into half time 33 points ahead.
But after half time though the tables turned somewhat as the Swans midfield began to run and carry the ball, combining well as a group and giving small forwards opportunities to kick majors.
