STRATHBOGIE Shire Council will soon make a decision on the location of Strathbogie’s Neighbourhood Safer Place (NSP) after a community discussion was held on Monday last week.

Community concern was recently expressed regarding the town’s NSP location, which is currently at the golf course.

Council received feedback from some members of the community who preferred the memorial hall as a safe location to flee to during bushfire periods.

Mayor Deb Swan said that council wanted to use the discussion to make an informed decision on the NSP’s location, but there had been a lack of understanding surrounding what an NSP should be used for.

“It was suggested that we really need to speak to the broader community so I think it’s really important that we do that,” she said.

“There seems to still be a little bit of misunderstanding I think generally, not just here but everywhere.
