A new place to call ‘safer’ in neighbourhood?

STRATHBOGIE Shire Council will hold a meeting on Monday, June 15, at the Strathbogie Memorial Hall to discuss the possible change of their Neighbourhood Safer Place (NSP) venue.

Residents of the shire have recently raised concerns regarding the current location of the NSP which has resulted in Country Fire Authority (CFA) and council conducting further assessments regarding these concerns.

Outcomes of these assessments will be discussed at the community meeting, where all shire residents are welcome to attend.

Council will be looking at the possibility of moving the current NSP from the Strathbogie Golf Course to the Strathbogie Memorial Hall.

Shire communications manager, Purdey Wikman, said that it is not only important to put the NSP location somewhere safe, but to also educate the community on what NSPs are actually used for.

“There’s a little bit of confusion regarding the proper uses for the NSPs,” she said.
