A PUSH for a heated swimming pool for the Strathbogie Shire continues to gain momentum, with more residents keen to see the idea develop.
Since The Euroa Gazette last reported on the issue, several residents have taken to social media to voice their opinions on the importance of having both a heated and hydrotherapy pool to use within the shire.
The general consensus has been that residents would use the facility recreationally, for health purposes and for children’s swimming lessons, as many parents travel to either Seymour, Benalla or Shepparton for this reason.
Euroa resident Kelly Hill said her young family would “absolutely” use an indoor heated pool multiple times per week and currently travels out of town to do so.
“A cost-benefit analysis would be paramount, but I do feel the need to be explicit in saying I don’t feel any supporters of an indoor pool in Euroa would be suggesting this be done at the expense (or force the closure) of the existing outdoor facilities in Violet Town, Avenel and Nagambie,” she said.
“I also feel the cost-benefit analysis must factor in the ‘economic leakage’ that results from residents of our shire travelling out of town (to said facilities in Seymour, Benalla and Shepparton) on such a regular basis, where they then do their grocery shopping and spend money on other things out of town.”
