LABOR has honored a pre-election commitment to fund the $500,000 stage two of the Euroa Saleyards development, with planning to begin from July 1 this year.
Minister for Regional Development and Agriculture Jaala Pulford made the announcement at Euroa last Thursday, saying the government’s Regional Infrastructure Development Fund would support additional work including relocation of power lines, further upgrades to the yards and finalising all roofing.
Before the 2014 state election, Labor candidate for Euroa Clare Malcolm announced that if elected, she would ensure stage two went ahead.
Ms Malcolm lost the seat to Nationals candidate Steph Ryan but Labor did win the election.
Ms Pulford visited Euroa, touring the saleyards with local agents and representatives from Strathbogie Shire Council and admired the completed stage one (completed last year) which included partial roofing and improved stock pens.
She said the Euroa Saleyards was a wonderful asset for primary producers.
