TWO bridges within the Shire of Strathbogie will receive funding as part of a $300 million Federal Government bridge program.

Kirwan’s Bridge on McLeod Street, seven kilometres north of Nagambie, will have a $200,000 upgrade to increase capacity from six tonnes to a 15 tonne load limit.

Kelly’s Bridge on Creightons Creek Road, 18 kilometres south-west of Euroa, will have its existing deck replaced with a wider, stronger deck at a cost of $60,000.

The work is just stage one of the Federal Government’s new Bridges Renewal Program, which aims to upgrade 18 bridges across the state with $12.8 million.

The government has committed $300 million over the next five years for the program.

Sharman Stone (MHR, Murray) said the program was designed to upgrade some of the electorate’s older bridges.
