Planning to ensure successful regrowth

VICFORESTS’ planned visit to the Strathbogie Ranges this week may not help with the successful regeneration of a “disgusting, atrocious mess” in the forests, according to a local forestry group.

This Sunday, VicForests will visit Strathbogie and is inviting community members to meet with them and discuss plans to re-grow an area of forest within the ranges.

Members of the Strathbogie Sustainable Forestry Group (SSFG) have confirmed their attendance at the forest area in question, which is the corner of Ferraris and Barjarg roads, Strathbogie.

SSFG spokesperson Bert Lobert said the group would listen to what VicForests has to say about the area, but are opposed to the group harvesting in the Strathbogie Ranges.

“We’ll be there to listen and see what they’ve got planned,” he said.

“The coupe is a disgusting and atrocious mess and we are not confident VicForests has the resources to fix it.
