Women’s premier cricket back at the Euroa oval

WHAT A DAY: The Plenty Valley and Essendon-Maribyrnong Park Ladies cricket club representatives at the Euroa Memorial Oval recently. PHOTO: David Mastin

FOR the third Australia Day weekend in as many years, Plenty Valley took to the Memorial Oval for a T20 double header.

For the second year running their opponents were Essendon-Maribyrnong Park Ladies cricket club.

Talking to players of both clubs it was quite apparent that they look forward to getting out of the big smoke and enjoying some good old country hospitality.

In fact they intimated that they would love this round to become a permanent arrangement and hopefully this will be organised.

I am sure that Plenty Valley’s second eleven captain and Cricket Victoria’s first elected female board member, Claudia Fatone, will be working to this end.

Euroa of course has player connections with Plenty Valley through the likes of Kate Shallard (daughter of Bernard and Gayle) and Kim Starkey (daughter of Jeff and Bronwyn).
