Holmes brings Violet Town home in round six

ON day one rain interrupted play at the Benalla Showgrounds with St Joseph’s 4/84, with 32 overs played.

Play continued on day two with Defazio adding another 15 runs to his total of 42 runs and was caught by Nathan Abley, bowled by Glenn Parmansche.

Other run makers for St Joseph’s were: Relf 28 runs; Anderson 25; Carboon 19, Saker (not out) 19; Stratton (not out) 12; Hernan 9; Arians 8; Brennan 6; Connor 2 and Gladstone 1 run.

St Joseph’s finished with 9/186 (dec) at 60 overs. Violet Town openers, Nicholas Abley and Simon Holmes, saw the early wicket of Nicholas Abley caught Gladstone bowled Stratton.

Christmas Carols and jingle-bells rang out for St Joseph’s with Abley’s duck and Violet Town only two runs. There were a little better innings from Duncombe 14; Hazell 0; Nathan Abley 5; Gary Abley 34; Mason (not out) 7; Ellis (not out) 4.

Captain Simon Holmes saved Violet Town with his winning 110 runs and team mate Gary Abley gave good entertaining cricket.
