AROUND the world in many countries, traditional Christmas carols and popular Christmas songs are being sung in thousands of venues at this time of the year.
The spirit of Christmas is spread by the singing and playing of the carols and many folk enjoy watching the children all dressed up in costumes and holding their candles while joining in the fun.
The community of Nagambie gathered together on Friday to do just that at the 2014 Carols by Candlelight held by the Lions Club of Nagambie and District Inc in the gaily decorated Mechanics Hall.
To add to the musical atmosphere, the Euroa Citizens Band, led by musical director John Dunn played the evergreen Christmas carols and popular Christmas songs in the Nagambie Mechanics Hall; capably organised by Julie Price and the Lions club.
Reverend Maryann Leonard of St John’s Anglican church as MC for the evening and the effervescent Lakeside Larks choir encouraged the audience to sing along and wowed the crowd with their Christmas version of “Hallelujah”.
Vocalist Russell Turner impressed the carols patrons with his singing and even made a guest appearance to the delight of the small children as Santa’s helper.
