Mooroopna scores runs quickly on a flat wicket

EYES ON THE BALL: Travis Stephanos (B grade left) keeps a tight rein on the wicket against Mooroopna at the Euroa Memorial Oval.

MOOROOPNA resumed their innings on 2/41 in response to Euroa’s 133 all out last Saturday.

The writing was on the wall from the outset with the pitch having flattened out considerably and grass cover disappearing from the bowler friendly pitch Euroa batted on last week.

This proved to be the case with runs easily scored by Mooroopna’s batsmen and Euroa finding it hard to take wickets.

Brad Gleeson, Adam Wright, Tom Burke, Jett Trotter, Tim Jackson and Curtis Hoare on debut all took one wicket throughout their day with Tom Burke, Dion Grant and Travis Stefanos each taking a catch in the field.

However, Mooroopna chased down Euroa’s score and then went on to post an impressive tally of 6/224 before declaring.

In hindsight Euroa would probably have preferred to bowl first in this match with the pitch condition varying so much between weeks one and two, however, there are many positives to take from the match all considered.
