Gooram ladies dominate on the court

SERIOUS BUSINESS: Kathryn O’Brien looks like a force to be reckoned with.

SECTION 1: Lawn hosted fellow club team Gooram for tennis on Saturday in what was another close match for the section one team.

Gooram’s ladies dominated their sets, gaining a plus 13 game advantage, whereas lawn’s men were able to win two of their three sets, to go into the mixed five games down.

Lawn got off to a good start in the mixed, winning the first set 8-2 to regain the lead, but Gooram steadied and held on to win the match by two games.

A fill-in for Gooram, in Scott Rowan, injured his groin in the first set.

He was replaced for the rest of the match by Ricky Davidson (who had filled-in earlier this season for an injured player) who was there watching his sons play.

And then, would you believe it, Ricky injured his Achilles late in his final set?
