$500k backing for saleyards

Poultry body plans move to yards

The Strathbogie Shire confirmed that the Labor Government will honor its $500,000 pre-election promise for stage two of the Euroa Saleyards redevelopment.

A RE-ELECTED Nationals government will invest half a million dollars towards a $1 million redevelopment of the Euroa Saleyards.

Nationals candidate for Euroa Steph Ryan, together with Minister for Agriculture and Food Security Peter Walsh at the saleyards, will today make the announcement regarding the $500,000 Regional Growth Fund investment towards stage two of the complex redevelopment.

Ms Ryan said this investment would be a massive boost to the saleyards project by completing roofing over the complex, constructing a cattle selling ring and undertaking necessary enabling infrastructure works to the site.

“As well as this, new headquarters will be constructed to house the Victorian Poultry Fanciers Association including an office, toilets, showers and canteen,” she said.

“The poultry association has been in discussions with the Coalition Government for several months regarding their desire to relocate from the Melbourne Showgrounds.

“With this redevelopment under a re-elected Coalition Government, the association will relocate to the Euroa Saleyards from Melbourne, potentially bringing about six staff and their families with them.
