STRATHBOGIE Shire councillors unanimously voted for a Euroa engineering company to oversee construction of a roof over the Euroa Saleyards.
Don Newnham Engineering will conduct the work, which is expected to begin within the next few months.
The original plan, to build 60 new pens with roofs, was scrapped when the shire and saleyard committee realised the work would exceed the $450,000 budget.
The shire and committee then compromised for a new roof to cover a minimum of 110 existing pens and build new ones when more money was made available.
Cr Mick Williams said it was the committee who helped council decide on building a roof over the saleyards.
“The saleyard upgrade will be a huge investment into the town and it’s good to see a local business successful in working on the project,” he said.
