‘Watto’ clocks up 400 games of footy

League record only 10 games away

SCOTT Watson still remembers the first time he ran out onto the footy field as a senior player for the Euroa Magpies.

It was 1993 and it was Euroa’s first game against Rochester (away) and Watson played full back.

He recalls taking a mark 55 metres out and distinctly remembers the hard game it was and that it was a good introduction to the Goulburn Valley Football League (GVFL).

Fast forward 21 years and the now president of the Euroa Football Netball Club (EFNC) has logged 400 games with the club, 365 of those as a senior player.

The 45 year old Euroa resident and principal of Euroa Secondary College was lifted on the shoulders of fellow reserves players Rayan Moore and Alex Duff, looking proud and overwhelmed to know he had just played his 400th game with what he believes is one of the best country football clubs in Victoria.

“The GVFL, ever since I started playing with Euroa, always had an exceptionally high standard,” Watson said.
