EUROA could soon be known as the ‘chook capital’ of Australia if plans by the Victorian Poultry Fanciers Association (VPFA) to relocate to the town go ahead.
The VPFA has been left homeless after the Victorian Government took control of the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV).
It moved out of its quarters to make way for the filming of reality cooking program Masterchef.
VPFA chairman Lou Sigmund travelled to Euroa last week to meet with representatives from the Strathbogie Shire Council and was shown a number of possible sites to move in or erect a building.
Mr Sigmund said he inspected the old Teson Trims factory as one option and while he thought it had potential, he feared it would cost too much money to repair the building.
“We also explored the possibility of erecting a big shed opposite the saleyards,” Mr Sigmund said.
