Human body at exhibition

Petra Nicel showing works at Euroa

HUMAN BODY THE FOCUS: Former Strathbogie resident Petra Nicel will be showcasing her latest works of art at her ‘Hold Dear’ exhibition at Sheilas Inc in Euroa from August 15.

THE human body is the subject of an innovative new public exhibition by a former Shire of Strathbogie resident and artist.

Emerging Melbourne-based artist Petra Nicel, who hails from Strathbogie, will be holding her third solo exhibition at Sheilas Inc Design Centre on Binney Street in just under a month’s time.

‘Hold Dear’ is an exhibition about the body, addressing the body from a personal perspective both from the point of view of the artist but also from her subjects.

As part of her 12 month long preparation for the new exhibit, Petra has interviewed introverts, extroverts, a bodybuilder, a girl with body dysmorphic disorder to name a few, in order to gain an understanding of how a range of different people interact with their own bodies.

Her different works of art were created based on the interviews.
